Let Love Make You Smile

Go ahead. I dare you to think about how good love feels and not smile. Couldn’t do it could you? Neither can I, nor would I want to.  When love makes us smile, it eases our heart, adds a gleam to our eyes, and sparks joy in our soul.

Remembering love not only makes me smile more, but has led me to recently launch an online gift shop to help others remember love and smile more, too. It’s entitled LoveMakesMeSmile.com, with the tagline, “Gifts for a Happy Life.”

I never intended to launch an online gift shop, but, briefly, here’s how it happened.

You Did Enough: A Tribute to 9/11 Rescuers

Your heart was racing inside. All the debris. All the fear. All the hope you were so desperately still trying to hang onto. I know you had every intention of holding onto hope until the very end—until there was nothing left but the harsh reality that the people you fought so desperately to save were gone.

And even then, you knew you wouldn’t want to accept it. Your greatest fear was that you wouldn’t be able to accept it—that you would always ask yourself “What if I had gotten there sooner, had done more, had been more? What if I had stayed longer, had worked faster, had dug deeper? What if I hadn’t been afraid—at times? What if…?”

These thoughts invaded your mind creating a premature ghost to haunt your heart even while you were still trying to rescue those you hoped to God remained alive.

God Is Your Father

(A Father's Day message for fatherless sons)

You never knew your father. What does that make you? I know the world has a word for it, but the truth is, God is your father. That makes you a child of God. 

I know you would have liked to have known your earthly father. It would have been nice to have had him to talk to about things like sex, relationships, work and life in general. But somehow, you made it through without him.

And look at you now. You’re all grown up with a family of your own and have turned out to be a wonderful man.

I know it hasn’t been easy.

Peace Tip: Ask and Expect

Whatever you want or feel you need, ask God for it, and expect to receive it. Asking with expectancy activates our witnessing of God’s goodness in our lives. God constantly moves and manifests wonders in us, for us and through us, whether we ask him or not. But when ask and expect to receive, our doubts diminish and we become more conscious of his blessings as they emerge in our lives. As a result, our faith and witness are strengthened, and so are we.
