Beat Tough Times With Peace

These days especially, it’s easy to get stressed out over our circumstances such as work we can’t find, lifestyle necessities we can no longer afford, bills we can’t pay, a job we’re afraid we may lose or worse. But getting stressed out never helps. In fact, it usually hurts. Ironically the best response to stressful circumstances is peace.

“Peace” is one of the most underestimated yet most powerful words in our vocabulary. We say it, but rarely embrace the power of it. We use phrases like “peace of mind,” “peace and quiet,” or  “peace be with you” almost to the point of making them cliché. But when we say the word “peace” and believe in its power, we can rise above any circumstance. Jesus demonstrated this fact very clearly to his disciples when he calmed an entire sea by simply saying “Peace! Be still.”

We can do the same thing. All we have to do is believe. Believing in the power of peace enables us to calm the storms in our lives that cause us to allow doubt and fear to control us. Believing in the power of peace automatically shifts our focus from the magnitude of our problems to extreme gratitude for our blessings.

When the challenges of life seem to be weighing you down and robbing you of your peace, remember, you have the power to overcome your circumstances—no matter how bad they may seem. Here’s how. Always remember and believe that God is in control, that he loves you and that he will never leave you. When you do, regardless of where you start, peace will be where you’ll finish.

“I am leaving you with a gift--peace of mind and heart! And the peace I give isn’t fragile like the peace the world gives. So don’t be troubled or afraid.”   John 14:27
