Biography 

Cynthia Legette Davis

 

 

Cynthia Legette Davis is a nationally recognized writer and author who considers it her life's work to help people create more peace and joy in their lives.  She is author of several books on personal peace entitled: Peace Tips for Life: Ideas and Inspiration for Personal Peace; Peace Be Still: Inner Healing for Racial Harmony; Peace and Racial Harmony Inside Out, (a workbook); and I Know How You Feel: Hope and Encouragement Even in Your Darkest Moments. As an entrepreneur, Cynthia is publisher of LeisureFun.net, a guide to events and attractions in South Carolina and Peaceinus.net, her blog and website which provides ideas and insights for living in joy and personal peace. 

 Here are some additional interesting facts about Cynthia. She:

  • Is a graduate of the University of South Carolina’s School of Journalism.
  • Is a graduate of Leadership Columbia and Leadership South Carolina.
  • Was founder and publisher of Leisure Fun magazine for five years.
  • Was co-publisher and editor of South Carolina Business Vision magazine for eight years.
  • Was a member of Toastmasters International for six years.
  • Was adjunct professor and a member of the Partnership Board for the University of South Carolina’s School of Journalism.
  • Has been featured in a variety of local radio and television media and in newspapers throughout the Southeast including the: Atlanta Journal, Glamour Magazine, State Newspaper, Charleston Post and Courier, Sun News, Greenville Piedmont, Spartanburg Herald Journal Anderson Independent and the Rock Hill Herald.
  • Has received a number of awards for her writing and publishing skills including: Gold Quill Award from the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC), bronze ADDY Award from the Columbia Advertising Club, Award of Excellence and Award of Merit from the Carolina’s Association of Business Communicators, Award of Excellence from the Life Communicators Association, Institutional Award of Excellence for an Annual Report and the Special Merit Award from the Council for Advancement and Support Education.
  • Helped to establish community groups for improved race relations in more than a dozen counties in South Carolina.
  • Is a member of the following organizations: SC Race Reconciliation Council, SC Racial Healing Work Group, Columbia Race Relations Luncheon Club, Columbia World Affairs Council (board of directors) Brookland Baptist Church, New Carolina Distressed Areas Task Force, and the Columbia Museum of Art.
  • Enjoys leisure activities that include reading, live theatre, movies, dance, zumba, concerts, gardening and golf.

Cynthia is a graduate of the University of South Carolina with a B.A. degree in broadcast journalism.
