Stand Still to Get Ahead

(An excerpt from my book, "I Know How You Feel.")

Come a little closer. Do you want to know the secret to getting ahead in life? Stand still. That’s it. That’s the secret.

You look surprised. I was, too, when I discovered it. Then I realized that the reason I had missed this secret for so long was because I was so busy trying to rush head. I was too busy for this insight to come through.

But that all changed today. I was sitting still this morning, thanking God for this day and asking him for his direction throughout this day. Underneath the prayer, however, was a current of anxiety about all the things I was trying to do and wanted to do but wasn’t doing.

God heard my prayer, and he also heard my anxiety. He answered them both. That’s when I discovered the secret I’m sharing with you now.

Stand still if you want to get ahead in life. “What does this mean?” you ask. It means staying firmly rooted in the things you know in your heart to be good and true and fair. It means being true to your greater Self—always.

When you truly stand still, you’re in touch with God and, in turn, you’re able to tap into his vast reserve of resources that are already yours, such as love, talents, money, food, shelter, clothing, opportunities and so much more.

When you truly stand still, you have the privilege of witnessing God transform these precious resources into blessings in your life.

That’s hard to do if you’re busy chasing wishes and wants. By standing still, you’re no longer caught up in the rush of the world. Instead, you’re content to watch it rush past you as you continue to work and wait.

Stand still in God, and you will discover the appearance and reappearance in your life of those things intended just for you.
